5th Street (2012) Joe Montoya, the volatile, emotionally wounded protagonist who organizes a gang of common citizens to seek revenge on a street gang led by lethally dangerous Beto Navronne (Christian Monzon). The cast also features: Annie Fetchu who portrays Jessica, a social worker who attempts to pull Joe away from his vengeful pursuits; Joe Voltierra as Detective Gonzalez, the tortured father of one of Beto's victims; and JC Martinez who portrays Joe as a child, in a flashback. The film underscores the complicated moral issues involved with street justice when the justice system in place fails to protect its citizens. The characters are infused with humanity in that the good guys aren't always good and the bad not always bad. Hispanics are portrayed not only as gang members but also as responsible, ethical, educated and intelligent pillars of society.
